Silicon Valley High-Tech “Juicero” Beaten by Hand

Bloomberg reports that one of Silicon Valley’s hottest startups is Juicero, having attracted $120 million in investment funds for their wireless cold-press juicer which boasts that it can apply four tons of pressure. Rather than inserting fruit in one end and having juice come out the other, users insert a bag of chopped fruit and veggies purchased from Juicero, which is then juiced by squeezing the bag. Bloomberg News staffers compared Juicero to just opening the bag and hand-squeezing the contents into a glass, achieving an identical effect, more quickly…and saving Juicero’s $400 price tag. Juicero declined to comment for Bloomberg’s article. —AK
