Robots Being Used as Soldiers in Ukrainian Conflict

Dystopian futures seem to be moving faster than our ability to keep up with them. Now comes news that the Ukrainian military is planning to use armed ground robots in their conflict against Russian-backed forces. In October, defense officials demonstrated one such device called The Phantom at the Association of the US Army’s annual meeting in Washington, DC. The device can be armed with anti-tank weapons or grenade launchers and can hit speeds of up to 37 mph. A Russian robot called Uran-9 has also been developed for combat and is armed with a 30 mm cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, and and anti-tank rockets. —TV
