Chip Implant

US Company Microchipping Employees

In yet another real-life leap towards dystopian science-fiction, Three Square Market, a Wisconsin high-tech company plans to offer microchip implantation for employees. Following on the heels of Swedish company Epicenter that began doing the same thing earlier this year, the company is offering it to employees on a voluntary basis. For those who elect to donate their bodies to science, the company will pay the $300 cost of the procedure which involves implanting the rice-sized device between their thumb and forefinger. Articles in the mainstream press seems oddly sanguine about the prospect. USA Today wrote that, “while microchipping employees may sound like something out of a horror film, the company is partnering with Swedish company BioHax International, which already has many ‘chipped’ employees.” —TV
