Village Voice Abandons its Print Version

Another mighty domino has fallen to the electronic juggernaut. The Village Voice, the storied independent New York City weekly, has announced on Tuesday that it will end print publication. The paper said the move was intended to revitalize the publication and expand its audience. The move follows a recently redesigned website and a reported increase in visitors. Peter Barbey, the paper’s owner, noted that the newspaper business has moved online and said that his publication’s audience “expects us to do what we do not just once a week, but every day, across a range of media.” —TV
